For the past several years, Clever Schools and our Clever community have gathered on Veterans Day to honor our veterans with a Veterans Day assembly. Each year, the assembly has grown, and we were looking forward to making it even better this year. Due to current circumstances, we aren't able to gather as we have in past years, but we still wanted to carry on our tradition of presenting handmade quilts to veterans from our area.
Our ceremony this year was much smaller. There was no choir and no band, nor did we have a gym full of people gathered to show their thanks. While our ceremony this year was not as big, our thanks and our gratitude has not been diminished. Beautiful quilts handmade by a dear friend of Clever Schools (Kerin Hatch) were presented to veterans Jerry Hunsaker, Glen Smith, Al Michel, and Tim Boyer. Members of our National Junior Honor Society Zemma Brosius, Mackenzie Camp, Piper Steele, and Audrey Riley interviewed each of our veterans and read a short biography they wrote.
While we can't gather as a group, please join us in showing thanks and gratitude to our veterans--not just today, but every day!
